Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Menomonee Falls

Community Centered Family Medicine

The mission of the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Menomonee Falls Family Medicine Residency Program is to use evidence-based and innovative strategies to prepare community-focused physicians who can navigate and thrive in a complex health care landscape while providing compassionate, quality care for our health system, region, and beyond. This program was established in 2017, as a partnership between the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Family & Community Medicine and Froedtert Health, to address the growing need for compassionate and skilled family physicians for the state of Wisconsin.

Program Background

The program is focused on developing full spectrum family medicine physicians with the skills necessary to practice in any setting. The village of Menomonee Falls is situated at the crossroads of 4 counties which make up ~25% of the population of Wisconsin. Our residents have opportunity to serve rural, suburban, and urban communities throughout their training.

In April 2017, we opened our doors with our inaugural class moving into a brand new, state of the art 19,000 square foot Family Medicine Practice housed in Town Hall Health Center, a multi-disciplinary medical center.  The majority of the program’s inpatient training is found just across the street from our primary clinic site at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, a community-based hospital affiliated with a larger health system.

As the only residency in our community hospital setting, our residents receive individualized learning helping them develop into full spectrum family physicians. Our program has always encouraged residents to develop personalized training to suit their future practices which is why we now offer 6 months of electives.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR’S WELCOME

Hello, and welcome to the F&MCW Menomonee Falls Family Medicine Residency Program! I am excited to tell you about this very special program in the greater Milwaukee area.

Our program specializes in helping residents grow into competent, community-based physicians that are well-prepared for outpatient practice or hospitalist positions. While in the clinic, residents will see a variety of patient populations to prepare them for any type of practice setting they enter. Some unique highlights of our curriculum include a procedures rotation focusing on inpatient and outpatient procedures, a longitudinal community health curriculum, and 10 months of adult inpatient training.
Residents enjoy working alongside our faculty in the sports medicine and inclusion clinics. Electives are often done in the Menomonee Falls area, but our relationship with F&MCW gives us multiple options for electives in both adult and pediatric specialties.

While our program is unique, our residents also benefit from collaboration with the other MCW programs in the area. We share many didactic and curricular sessions so that you are always getting the best expertise in the area. Please reach out if you have any questions. We look forward to meeting you!

Sincerely,

Brooke Passolt, MD
Program Director, F&MCW Menomonee Falls
